{"id":490,"date":"2024-02-23T01:06:41","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T00:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/?page_id=490"},"modified":"2024-03-30T20:42:44","modified_gmt":"2024-03-30T19:42:44","slug":"angiologie","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/en\/angiologie\/","title":{"rendered":"Angiology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our focus is on the prevention, early detection and treatment of <em>cardiovascular risk factors<\/em> such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>high blood lipids<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>high blood pressure<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>high blood glucose<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>and of<em> cardiovascular diseases<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>&#8220;Scleral disease&#8221; = peripheral arterial occlusive disease<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>Narrowing of the carotid arterial occlusive disease<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>Narrowing of the coronary vessels = Coronary heart disease<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>which are the most frequent cause of death worldwide, as well as in the diagnosis and therapy of <em>venous diseases<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>varicose veins<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>(deep) venous thrombosis<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>pulmonary embolism<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to a comprehensive physical examination and recording of the personal risk profile, we also offer a series of technical examinations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exercise ECG (ergometry)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ergometry is the detection of physical performance under stress (see wheel picture) and under observation of certain body functions using an ECG. This capacity is assessed qualitatively by age, body size and weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The advantage is an increased sensitivity for pathological changes in the coronary vessels. At the same time it can also be assessed whether or not essential values such as blood pressure, pulse and other cardiac-circulatory parameters lie within the normal range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"513\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rad-513x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-491\" style=\"width:248px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rad-513x1024.jpg 513w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rad-150x300.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rad-768x1534.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rad-769x1536.jpg 769w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rad-1025x2048.jpg 1025w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rad-scaled.jpg 1282w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a9Institut Athos<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: \u00a0It is useful on the day of the examination to wear a comfortable pair of trousers and sports shoes also not sober or full-bodied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>24 hours blood pressure measurement<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 24-hour blood pressure measurement measures the blood pressure values over a whole day in order to get a better overview (day and night profile) about the blood pressure regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The long-term blood pressure measurement works in principle as a normal blood pressure measurement, but over 24 hours. A mobile blood pressure measuring device with the size of an approximately 15cm x 15cm box (see picture) is placed with a carrying strap around the chest and connected to a blood pressure cuff on the patient&#8217;s upper arm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"901\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger1-901x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-492\" style=\"width:281px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger1-901x1024.jpg 901w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger1-264x300.jpg 264w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger1-768x873.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger1-1352x1536.jpg 1352w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger1.jpg 1388w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 901px) 100vw, 901px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The blood pressure is measured at regular predetermined intervals by means of cuff pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The patient must record his activities in a protocol in order to better evaluate later changes in the blood pressure and to be able to detect their possible cause. Time of getting up, breakfast, eating, work, certain activities, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: Do not take a shower or shower during the ongoing examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>24-hour ECG<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outpatient 24-hour measurements (Holter ECG) are used to record the electrocardiogram over a longer period of time in order to be able to detect sporadically occurring cardiac arrhythmia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the examination, a small mobile ECG device (see picture) is placed around the chest with a carrying strap and connected with adhesive electrodes which are attached to the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"814\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger2-814x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-497\" style=\"width:287px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger2-814x1024.jpg 814w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger2-239x300.jpg 239w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger2-768x966.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger2-1222x1536.jpg 1222w, https:\/\/www.institut-athos.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ger2.jpg 1278w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 814px) 100vw, 814px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The patient must record his activities in a protocol in order to better evaluate future changes of the electrocardiogram and to be able to detect their possible cause. Time of getting up, breakfast, eating, work, certain activities, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The examination is carried out, in particular, for the more precise clarification of complaints such as dizziness, collapse \/ impotence, cardiac arrest &#8211; which may be caused by a rhythm disorder &#8211; but also for therapy control in the context of the intake of some heart medications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: Do not take a shower or shower during the ongoing examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>Oscillography, arterial pressure measurement<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these examinations, disturbances of circulation of the arms and vessels can be discovered very early (or shortly after a load); they are also used for monitoring the course of the disease in the case of a known vascular disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By means of special blood pressure cuffs on the arms and legs, the blood flow of the extremities can be measured and the extent of the bleeding disorder can then be detected. These studies are completely painless and risk-free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For localization diagnosis (where and how long is the narrowing of the vessel), additional examination methods, e.g. the vascular ultrasound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE : \u00a0no preparation is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong><strong>Digital Photoplethysmography<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Venous diseases of the legs can be detected and measured by digital photoplethysmography. Small measuring buttons are glued to the lower leg, parameters of the venous return current are then measured at rest and after load. The study is painless and risk-free, and is primarily used for the diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency (venous weakness) in patients with swollen legs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it is not suitable for accurate localization diagnostics, and additional investigations, e.g. Ultrasonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: no preparation is necessary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong><strong><strong>Ultrasonic examination of the neck, arm, pelvic and other (arteries)<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By means of high-resolution ultrasound examination, these arteries can be examined in their entire course and thus, for example, Narrowings or vascular occlusions can be more precisely located and assessed.
